17.4.1

17.4.1

1. SDGs Back-to-School Season ActivitiesSDGs

Purpose of the Plan: Every year, the National Taiwan Ocean University allocates a budget to purchase a wide variety of books, including those that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This plan aims to help readers establish a connection between the library's collection and the SDGs, as well as understand the relationship between the call number information displayed in the 'Library Catalog System' and the actual location of books in the library stacks. Through this initiative, the SDGs and library usage are promoted.

Execution Method:

  1. Go to the library counter and use the spinning wheel to randomly select an SDGs task.
  2. Use the library catalog system to search for the location of the book specified by the task.
  3. Go to the stacks area to find the specified book and a sample book pre-placed by the librarian, and take a photo.
  4. Upon completing the task, present the photo to the librarian at the counter.

2. SDGs E-book Exhibition and Quiz Contest SDGs

Purpose of the Plan: National Taiwan Ocean University purchases many e-books from various publishers and platforms each year. To promote e-book reading among a larger audience within the university and to raise awareness of SDG 1: No Poverty, this plan aims to engage students in moving towards sustainable development goals through an educational yet entertaining approach.

Implementation Method:

    1. The activity is limited to faculty, staff, and students within the university.
    2. The promotion will be carried out through both an online quiz contest and a physical book exhibition.
    3. 3.A Google Form will be used to create 5 questions, and participants must answer all questions correctly to qualify.
    4. The quiz questions will be based on the SDGs-themed book exhibition currently held by the library, encouraging students to visit the library.
    5. After the event, a raffle will be held, and the winners will be announced on the website

3. SDGs United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Theme exhibition SDGs

National Taiwan Ocean University allocates a fixed budget every year to purchase e-books. The primary goals are to promote e-book reading within the university, allowing more readers to become familiar with the e-book platforms, and to align with the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The promotion of e-book reading activities will be planned from both online and physical perspectives.

Online Thematic Exhibition: Focused on the e-book list purchased by the university on the HyRead platform (https://ntou.ebook.hyread.com.tw/). Faculty and students can directly click on the links to read the e-books online.

Physical Book Fair: Based on individual SDG targets, such as SDG 2: Zero Hunger, separate book exhibitions will be held. Posters for the book fair will be designed, and the selected e-book cover images will be printed on plastic boards, with uniform layout, QR codes, and SDG icons. These will be displayed at actual book sizes in the exhibition space on the second floor of the library. As soon as readers enter the library, they can immediately see the display, scan the QR code to borrow e-books, thereby fostering a reading culture and raising awareness of the SDGs.
